Short Bio Michael P. Goodman MD, FACOG, NCMP,CCD Dr. Michael Goodman has been practicing women%u2019s healthcare since finishing his Ob/Gyn residency at Stanford University in 1972. After giving up the full-time practice of Ob in 1988, devoting his full energy to Women%u2019s Integrative Health, Dr. Goodman was a pioneer in the development and advancement of Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery, starting in the early 1980s. Beginning with an interest in the needs of peri- and post-menopausal women, Dr. Goodman%u2019s practice since 1999 has focused primarily on menopausal and sexual medicine. He was an early member of the North American Menopause Society, is a member of its Consumer Education Committee, and has contributed to its meetings, most notably in the area of Oral vs Transdermal estrogen therapy Dr. G is the author of 2 consumer-oriented books on menopause, %u201CThe Midlife Bible- A Woman%u2019s Survival Guide,%u201D and %u201CMEN-opause: The Book for Men.%u201D His several contributions to the peer-reviewed literature are in the areas of Family-Centered Maternity Care, Minimally Invasive Surgery, Female Genital Plastic Surgery, and Menopausal Medicine. He is an Emeritus reviewer for the Journal of Minimally Invasive Surgery and a current reviewer for the Journal of Sexual Medicine, Menopause Management, and the World Journal of Urology. After private practice for 27 years on the Mendocino, California Coast, Dr Goodman has practiced in the university community of Davis, CA (between Sacramento and the San Francisco Bay area) for 11 years. His practice focus is Integrative Gynecology and Lifestyle Enhancement, Menopausal and Sexual Medicine, and Female Genital Plastic Surgery (FGPS). He has several contributions to the peer-reviewed literature on FGPS, and has been a faculty member of several meetings and symposiums on the subject. Dr. Goodman sits on the Medical Advisory Board of Upsher-Smith Pharmaceuticals, and is a speaker for Upsher, Boehringer-Ingelheim, TherRx and Novogyne pharmaceuticals. He enjoys his 4 children and partner, Michele, as well as interests in writing, gardening, kayaking, tennis and fitness.
