In treating both acute and chronic painful conditions, Michael Umanoff, MD and a team of physicians at Total Pain Care, P.A., use a broad spectrum of methods and resources including medical management, state of the art interventional procedures and the expertise and input of doctors in related specialties. The practice has undergone significant and enviable growth since its founding in 1993. Today there are four physicians, a nurse coordinator and three office support personnel at three locations in Englewood Cliffs, Ridgewood and Paterson. Sights are set on further expansion into Newark . All of the physicians practicing pain management are board certified in both anesthesiology and pain medicine with additional training in either internal medicine or surgery. This broad scope of training ensures that each patient receives an optimal level of care. That care starts with developing an individual patient assessment, and continues with the creation of a treatment plan, establishing goals and outcomes and specifying a time frame in which a decrease in pain and an improved quality of life can be expected. When commenting on what makes the practice unique, patients often mention our individualized approach and the generous amount of time devoted to their care. They are impressed with the fact that the doctors are willing to take time to listen to their concerns and anxieties as well as understand the challenges they face at every step along the way. The practice along with Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center, helps to sponsor a Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy support group for both patients and family members that meets at the hospital. Michael Umanoff, MD, Mark Badach,MD, Harini Krottapalli, MD and Cathy Russo, MD are the physicians on staff. Dr Umanoff has expertise in the treatment of pain of spinal origin as well as other painful conditions. He has advanced training in the newest modalities available and is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, New Jersey State Society of Anesthesiologists, North American Neuromodulation Society, International Spine Intervention Society, American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians and New Jersey Society of Interventional Pain Physicians.
