Melissa Bagloo, MD is a board-certified bariatric and general surgeon, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a Fellow of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. A Florida native, Dr. Bagloo joined AdventHealth after training and initiating her practice in the northeast. Upon receiving her medical degree from the University of Florida, College of Medicine in Gainesville, FL, Dr. Bagloo went on to complete a general surgery residency at New York University School of Medicine and a minimally invasive and bariatric surgery fellowship at Weill Medical College of Cornell University and Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons.
A highly experienced clinician and surgeon, Dr. Bagloo has received many awards and honors. She is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and has consistently scored in the top 5% for Press Ganey patient satisfaction nationally. She initially started her career at Columbia University in New York City where she served as Assistant Professor for Clinical Surgery. She was then recruited to Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, New Jersey where she served as the Medical Director for the Center for Bariatric Surgery and Weight Loss Management. She and her team successfully developed a comprehensive medical and surgical weight loss program to serve the community. She additionally served as the program director for the Advanced GI Surgery Fellowship Program and as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine in New York, NY. Throughout her career, Dr. Bagloo has been extensively involved with both resident and fellow surgical education.
Dr. Bagloo’s interests currently lie in advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery with a strong focus on bariatric and metabolic surgery. She is passionate about helping patients lose weight and keep it off to achieve healthier and more fulfilling lives. She has personally performed over 500 robotic operations and thousands of minimally invasive procedures. Dr. Bagloo believes in whole patient care with optimal results and aims to ease recovery with minimal down time.
