Max Johan Coppes, MD, PhD, MBA, is the senior vice president of the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders and the director of the Center for Cancer and Immunology Research in Children's Research Institute.
Dr. Coppes has more than 20 years experience treating pediatric patients with cancer and blood disorders. He is internationally known for his work, specifically in researching and treating Wilms tumors. He has published more than 130 manuscripts and sits on numerous national and international committees. Since March 2000, he has been on the editorial board of Hem/Onc Today and is an associate editor of Pediatric Blood and Cancer, the premier peer-reviewed journal for pediatric hematology/oncology.
Recently, Dr. Coppes has developed an interest in patient safety research.
A native of the Netherlands, Dr. Coppes speaks Dutch, French, and Spanish fluently. He resides with his family in Virginia.
