Dr. Nikkel’s passion for medicine started when he was a child. As an athlete throughout his college years, sports medicine was something he was naturally drawn to. While working with a renowned physician, Dr. Lee Rice, Dr. Nikkel confirmed that sports medicine was his passion and what he wanted to pursue. He spent the past 16 years practicing in the Chicago area, but he and his family are now delighted to be living on the beautiful coast of Lake Michigan, and to being a part of this community.“As a fellowship-trained and board certified sports medicine surgeon, I am dedicated to treating each of my patients as family. My first choice, always, is to pursue conservative treatment options for my patients. When surgery is necessary, I use the most advanced arthroscopic and minimally invasive techniques, so my patients can get back to their active lives.”
