Brief Intro

Dr. Mark Maslan was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. He attended Southwest High School, where he was a State Champion swimmer both his junior and senior years. In addition, Dr. Maslan was a National Merit Scholar and was awarded the Len Dawson National Merit Scholarship. After graduating from Southwest High School, Dr. Maslan attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City six year School of Medicine where he received a Bachelor’s degree in English and Biology as well as his M.D. degree. Upon graduation, Dr. Maslan moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan where he completed six years of post-graduate training in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Michigan. While there he received a National Research Award for the study of cochlear implantation. Dr. Maslan moved back to Kansas City in 1986, where he joined Dr. Oscar Pinsker and Dr. Eugene Bortnick in their practice. Over the last twenty years Dr. Maslan has held numerous positions within the community. He has been Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Research Medical Center as well as Head of the Divisions of Head and Neck Surgery at both Research and Menorah Medical Centers. In addition, he has served on the Executive Committee of both Research and Menorah Medical Center. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Otolaryngology at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. Doctor Maslan has special interest in surgery of the salivary glands, thyroid surgery, head and neck cancer surgery, as well as sinus surgery. Dr. Maslan and his wife, Cathy, have five children. He enjoys yoga, golf and scuba diving. Dr. Maslan is also a voracious reader. He and his wife enjoy traveling and visiting their children throughout the continental United States.
