Specializing in orthopedic surgery, Mark Hontas, M.D. graduated from the University of Florida in 1974 and received his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in 1979. He interned at Charity Hospital until 1980 and then began his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Tulane University School of Medicine. He also served as a resident at the Atlanta Sports Medicine Clinic, Shriners Crippled Childrens Hospital in Shreveport, Hughston Orthopedic Clinic in Columbus, Georgia, and the Rancho LS Amigos Hospital in Downy, California.
Dr. Hontas was part of the Sports Medicine Fellowship program at the Tulane University School of Medicines Department of Orthopedics, and currently serves as an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopedics at the same institution.
He is a member of the American Medical Association, Hughston Society, Louisiana Orthopedic Association, Southern Medical Society, Louisiana State Medical Society, St. Tammany Parish Medical Society and Tulane Caldwell Society. In addition to private practice, Dr. Hontas has performed extensive academic research and has been published in numerous different works.
