I have always been interested in science and in problem-solving and particularly fascinated by the amazing intricacies of biology. Being able to learn more about the science of life and then to use that knowledge to help others was a coveted goal that I was fortunate enough to be able to pursue through the study and practice of medicine. I try to evaluate patients’ conditions based on listening to them and examining them in the context of their social and medical circumstances. Then I present to patients, in a way that they can understand, the information they need to make their own decisions regarding what they are willing and able to do to affect their health and their future. I encourage them to make decisions and to take actions which, based both on common sense and our current medical knowledge, will help them to live longer and healthier lives. Yet I acknowledge and respect their autonomy. Outside of work, I love playing with my grandchildren and hanging out with my family and my girlfriend. My avocation is playing blues harmonica.
