Dr. Szewczyk was born and raised in Belleville, Illinois and is thrilled to practice in Southern Illinois. He obtained a bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame, where he graduated with high honors and was elected into the Phi Beta Kappa Society. He then completed medical school at Northwestern University, being elected into the Alpha Omega Honor Medical Society. Outstanding clinical training was then obtained through a general surgery internship and otolaryngologist residency at Kansas University Medical Center. He obtained board certification from the American Board of Otolaryngology and has since used his education, training and valuable clinical experience practicing general otolaryngology since 1998.
Dr. Szewczyk takes great pride in using the knowledge gained through education, training, experience and the most up to date literature and techniques to collaborate with patients in determining the best course of action in their care. He feels a great responsibility to educate patients so that they can make the best informed decision possible for individualized treatment. He provides superior medical care and state of the art surgical techniques when necessary.
While always providing a complete general otolaryngology practice for patients of all ages, Dr. Szewczyk has particular clinical interests in helping pediatric otolaryngology problems, sinus and allergy disease and surgical management of snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnea. His current affiliations include Memorial Hospital, St. Elizabeth's Hospital and Monroe County Surgical Center. He maintains office hours in both the Shiloh and Waterloo clinics.
