Dr. Marilyn C. Jerome has practiced obstetrics and gynecology with Foxhall Ob-Gyn since 1982. She graduated from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1974. She then attended the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and graduated in 1978. Dr. Jerome completed her residency at the George Washington University Hospital in 1982. She served on the voluntary faculty of GW and taught residents and students as a Clinical Professor.She is now a mentor for GW medical students in the Department of Global Health. In 1999, she joined the medical staff of Sibley Memorial Hospital and now admits patients there.
Dr. Jerome's interests outside of medicine include board membership of the Jesuit Refugee Service and the Children of God Relief Fund. As a member of the Board of the Jesuit Refugee Service, Dr. Jerome served as chair of the Program Committee and a member of the Strategic Planning Committee. She became President of COGRF in 2008. This organization financially supports programs in Kenya for children infected and affected by HIV. She travels to Kenya yearly to provide oversight for these programs. Nyumbani serves over 100 orphans in a residential facility in Karen, Nairobi, Kenya. More than 3000 children and their families are served in the Lea Toto Clinics in 8 impoverished slums in Nairobi. The program encompasses voluntary testing for HIV, medical care and treatment with antiretroviral medications, and nutritional and psychosocial support for the children and their families. The Kitui village project will be the home of 1000 orphans and 100 elderly grandparents when it is completed in the near future, and will be self-sustaining.
She is also a member of the Medical Reserve Corps of Fairfax County.
Dr. Jerome is married to John Foust who is an attorney and sits on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors as the Dranesville District representative. She has two sons, Matthew 24, and Patrick age 21. Matthew lives in Arlington and works in property management, and Patrick is a senior at Georgetown University in the School of Foreign Service.
