Maria Tibbs began her career in healthcare shortly after high school, when she joined the Army as an enlisted nurse. While serving in the Army, she tended to the wounded in a field hospital and developed her passion for patient care. After receiving an honorable discharge in 2010, she returned to her native state of Maryland and completed a bachelor’s degree in Biology from the Notre Dame University of Maryland, graduating with honors. Her desire to continue patient care led her to pursue a career in dentistry, and in 2016, she earned her Doctorate in Dental Surgery form the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
Furthering Education
After graduating from dental school, Dr. Tibbs continued her education for four more years at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, specializing in Periodontics. During her residency, she studied cell attachment and implant micro-geometry and earned a Master of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences. Thereafter, she completed a fellowship in implant Periodontics, also at the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
Dr. Tibbs’s unique background enables her to relate to and work with a wide variety of people. She has a personal and compassionate approach to dentistry, and her extensive training helps with various types of complex treatment planning. She is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Periodontics, International Team for Implantology, American Academy of Women Dentists, and the American Dental Association. In her spare time, she enjoys fishing, camping, hiking, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.
