Dr. McCuiston was born and raised in Ann Arbor, MI. She received a B.S. degree in Chemistry from Spelman College and a her M.D. from Wayne State University School of Medicine. She completed her training in general pediatrics at the University of Michigan and became an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant in 2018. She has been practicing general pediatrics since 2004.She is bilingual, speaking both English and Spanish. She has practiced in small and large private practices to a large healthcare organization and held various professional leadership positions. She spent 6 years as a physician executive in Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, prior to making the decision to focus her attention solely on clinical work. She is a breastfeeding advocate and is passionate about creating total health and wellness for all children and their families.Her honors include being named one of the National Medical Association’s “Top 40 Under 40”, a “Top Doc Rising Star” by the Washington Post and a “Top Doctor” by Northern Virginia Magazine from 2014-2018. In addition, she was a White House Fellows Regional finalist during the second administration of President Obama. In 2003 she was featured in the Discovery Series, “First Days”, which followed her as a senior pediatric resident at the University of Michigan. She speaks and gives presentations on health equity, diversity and inclusion in the medical field and can be seen frequently on local news outlets.
