Lobna Zada, DDS
“In addition to helping children and their parents learn how to care properly for young teeth, it’s my job to create a positive experience that leads to a lifetime of good oral health habits.â€
Dr. Zada is a pediatric specialist at the new Rocket Dental department of Dental One Associates in Frederick, Maryland. She also sees young patients at Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics of Maryland in Glen Burnie. She has been caring for the needs of children from newborns to teens for 25 years.
Dr. Zada received her Master of Science in Dentistry, her Doctor of Science in Dentistry and her Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Pediatric Dentistry from Boston University. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, Maryland Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Maryland State Dental Association and the Baltimore City Dental Society.
A working mother of three, Dr. Zada enjoys that her profession presents something new every day. “My own children tease me because I love my job. I really like what I do, and I would never have it any other way.â€
As a pediatric specialist, Dr. Zada has completed two years of additional training beyond dental school in the specialized treatment of children. She is well-known for her gentle touch and caring nature.
“Children’s dental needs are different than those of adults,†says Dr. Zada. “Pediatric dentists are most familiar with and skilled in treating problems of this age group. Equally important is our ability to give children the best, most comfortable experience possible.â€
Pediatric specialists like Dr. Zada teach parents how to care for their children’s teeth and the role of diet in oral health.
“Many parents don’t realize that children should visit a pediatric dentist around the time of their first birthday, even if they have only a few teeth,†Dr. Zada admits. “At the initial appointment, we begin to discuss issues like the importance of good oral hygiene and diet including the discussion about certain foods and beverages and the role of consumption of these substances in increasing the risk of preventable dental disease.â€
After graduating from Boston University’s competitive dental programs, Dr. Zada worked in a university hospital where she saw many children with special needs. At Rocket Dental, she also cares for children with special needs who require specialized knowledge, adaptation and accommodative measures beyond what are considered routine.
“I feel blessed by the opportunity to help children with special needs first by creating a safe, comforting environment. In that way I have a similar goal for every child I see.â€
Dr. Zada is fluent in English and Arabic.
