Dr. Mark McGaughey, a native of New Berlin, WI, holds an undergraduate degree from Carleton College in Minnesota, and a medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
He then completed an internship, residency and cardiology fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital, and served for a year on the cardiology faculty.
Dr. McGaughey now practices on the campus of Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, where he concentrates on clinical and interventional cardiology. He also specializes in valvuloplasty, a procedure that uses a catheter to open blocked heart valves.
Dr. McGaughey joined Iowa Heart Center in 1985. He is board certified in general and interventional cardiology.
