received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Colgate University and his medical degree from the University of Health Sciences / Chicago Medical School. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Montefiore Hospital and Medical Center in Bronx, New York, and performed his fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Washington, DC. Prior to entering private practice in Howard County, Dr. Sorkin was acting chairman of the Department of Gastroenterology at Children’s Hospital National Medical Center, and assistant professor at George Washington University School of Medicine. In 1984, he became Chief of Gastroenterology for the Patuxent Medical Group. He joined Digestive Disease Associates in 2007.
Dr. Sorkin is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology. He was Chief of the Gastroenterology Section of Howard County General Hospital from 1988 to 1996. He is also a member of American College of Physicians, the American Gastroenterological Association, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition.
