Dr. Gimbel obtained his medical degree from the University of Louisville College of Medicine in Louisville, Kentucky. He completed his internship and residency at the Boston City Hospital of the Boston University Medical School. He subsequently completed his training in cardiovascular disease at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Dr. Gimbel is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease.
Dr. Gimbel is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Society. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology. Apart from his present tenure in private practice with Southern Heart Specialists, Dr. Gimbel has served as a surgeon in the United States Military as well as in various academic capacities. He formerly served on the faculty at the George Washington University Medical Center and the University of Maryland Hospital, where he served as director of the coronary care unit. He has participated in major clinical trials as well as published in major medical journals. While not practicing medicine, Dr. Gimbel enjoys fishing.
