Dr. Kathleen J. Smith at Dermatology Specialists of Atlanta is American Board of Dermatology board-certified in three disciplines: dermatopathology, dermatological immunology, and diagnostic and laboratory immunology. Dr. Smith earned her medical degree (M.D.) from the Carver College of Medicine, University of Iowa, followed by her completion of a three-year residency in dermatology at the prestigious Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC. Dr. Smith’s noted medical career includes distinguished service of over 20 years in a variety of capacities within both the public and private sectors. She began her profession in the active military sector as Chief of Dermatology/Chief of Medicine, with positions both overseas in Germany and Fort Lee, Virginia. Furthering her professional career, Dr. Smith expanded her vocational experience in the capacity of professor at: Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD; Department of Dermatology/Department of Pathology, at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine; Clinical Professor of Dermatology at Emory University in Atlanta, GA; and Co-director, Dermatopathology Fellowship Program, at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine. Dr. Smith along with the staff at Dermatology Specialists of Atlanta believes in listening to our patients concerns and developing an individualized treatment plan to meet your needs.
