Karen Antell, M.D., completed her undergraduate work at Brown University and attended the post-baccalaureate pre-medical program at Bryn Mawr College. She earned her medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine and completed residency in Family Medicine at West Suburban Family Medicine Residency in Oak Park, Illinois. For 12 years, Dr. Antell worked at the PCC-Salud Family Health Center, a federally qualified community health center in Chicago serving primarily low-income patients. She also served as faculty at the West Suburban Family Medicine Residency and as a provider of family-medicine obstetrics at West Suburban Medical center. Dr. Antell received her master's degree in public health from the University of Illinois, Chicago, in 2005 and served as faculty at Feinberg School of Medicine of Northwestern University, 2005–2006. Dr. Antell moved to Delaware in 2007 and became a faculty member of the Family Medicine Residency Program of Christiana Care. She also maintains a clinical practice at Westside Family Health Care, a federally qualified community health center in Wilmington. Dr. Antell's clinical and teaching interests include community and underserved medicine, family-medicine obstetrics, racial and ethnic disparities in health care, cultural competence and women's health. She is a member of the steering committee for Heart Truth Delaware, a partnership to increase screening for cardiovascular disease in women. Dr. Antell has been appointed to the teaching faculty in the "Advanced Lifesaving in Obstetrics" course at Lancaster General Hospital in Lancaster, Pa., for 2010. She is married and has two sons. She is an avid runner and enjoys gardening.
