Meet Dr. Justin Ray

Dr. Justin J. Ray is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in foot and ankle surgery at Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic.

He specializes in all aspects of surgical and non-surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Areas of expertise include:

Dr. Ray was born and raised in Raleigh, NC. He graduated magna cum laude from Wake Forest University with honors in health and exercise science. He received his medical degree from the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. Dr. Ray completed his orthopedic residency at West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV where he received several awards including Junior Resident of the Year, Strongest Team Player, and Greatest Resident Teacher. He was elected into the American Orthopaedic Association and participated in the C. McCollister Evarts Resident Leadership Forum. After residency, he completed a fellowship in Foot and Ankle Surgery at the renowned OrthoCarolina Foot & Ankle Institute in Charlotte, NC.

Dr. Ray has authored several peer reviewed articles in some of the top journals, including Foot and Ankle International. He has presented research at numerous local and national orthopedic conferences. During residency, he was awarded the Orthopaedic Resident Research Award for his research contributions. He is a member of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, American Orthopaedic Association, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

In his free time, Dr. Ray enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids, traveling, golfing, skiing, and visiting the beach.

About Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic

Raleigh Orthopaedic is Wake County’s oldest and most experienced orthopedic practice, serving the Triangle and surrounding regions of central North Carolina since 1919. Our original founders, Dr. Hugh Thompson, Dr. Walter Hunt, and Dr. Thomas Dameron opened Wake County’s first general surgery practice with a focus in orthopaedics in 1919, and named the practice Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic in 1959.
