Dr. Juan Fernando Zapata earned his medical degree from Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana in Medellin, Colombia back in 1995. For several years He worked in his natal city in different institutions. Then looking for new challenges he worked in various cruise lines meeting people from different places and cultures. By 2001 he was located in Chicago IL, where he completed an internship in internal medicine at Michael Reese Hospital, and finished his residency at Weiss Memorial Hospital in the same city, getting him the American Board of Internal Medicine certification since 2005. He is also a diplomate of the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic medicine. He has wide experience treating vein diseases, treating the whole spectrum of vein disease. From common spider veins, to those with more complex problems ,such as venous ulcerations.Dr. Zapata is fluent in English and Spanish, he has 26 years of experience in which has been dedicated to empowering his patients to improve their own health, listening and supporting them.He currently devotes his efforts to the well being of the community with compassionate and effective care, impacting common but difficult to treat problems like Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension, thyroid and metabolic diseases.
