The opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others through innovative pain procedures and educate patients, staff and peers drew Dr. Joshua E. Tucker, D.O. to the field of pain management. “I enjoy teaching and believe education is the key to success in partnering with our patients and in the advancement and application of pain medicine with staff and colleagues,” he said. With an expertise in a number of techniques including spinal cord and peripheral nerve stimulation as well as minimally invasive procedures like sacroiliac joint fusion, Dr. Tucker is a partner at Pain Consultants of Alabama, LLC D/B/A and Pain Consultants ASC, LLC. A Southeast Missouri State University alumnus, he earned a bachelor’s degree in health management with a concentration on exercise science and a master’s degree in nutrition and exercise science. He also volunteered for sports medicine sideline coverage at Eastern Michigan University during football and men’s and women’s basketball games. Nearing a decade of service at the Pain Consultants of Alabama, LLC D/B/A and Pain Consultants ASC, LLC, Dr. Tucker notes the patients and staff are his favorite part of the job. As the Human Resources physician, he enjoys resolving issues and creating opportunities for staff to feel celebrated and appreciated. When developing an individualized plan, Dr. Tucker knows medication management can be a vital part of overall treatment and effective in functional restoration when compliance and education are emphasized. “The patient comes first,” he said. “The relationship is strong when the patient participates and understands the plan.” In his spare time, Dr. Tucker likes to be active including hiking, coaching basketball and partaking in any activities with his family.
