Brief Intro

Dr. Joseph France D’Amore, MD, is an allergist at Medex Diagnostic & Treatment Center in the Forest Hills neighborhood of Queens in New York City. Over the course of more than 40 years in medicine, Dr. D’Amore has published research in multiple medical journals while treating the allergenic needs of his patients. Dr. D’Amore didn’t start out in medicine. In fact, he was a professional chef before making the decision to attend medical school in the 1970s. He received his Bachelor of Science in biology from St. Francis College in Brooklyn. Then, in 1974, he moved south to Mexico to continue his education in basic sciences at the Universidad Autonoma De Guadalajara in Zapopan. He moved back to Brooklyn in 1977 to continue medical school at State University of New York Downstate Medical Center and remained in the United States to complete his internship and residency. He was recognized as Long Island College Hospital’s medical intern of the year in 1979-1980 and Winthrop-University Hospital named him resident of the year before granting him the status of chief resident in 1981. Today, Dr. D’Amore is a member of several esteemed professional societies, including the American College of Physicians, American Medical Association, New York State Society for Internal Medicine, and American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology. He also serves as the volunteer director of the Family Health Center in South Bronx, putting patients first both there and at Medex Diagnostic & Treatment Center. When he isn’t serving the needs of patients or guest lecturing, Dr. D’Amore continues to enjoy gourmet cooking as much as he did before his career change. He stays active by playing racquetball and tennis, and loves a compelling science fiction book in his spare time.
