Dr. Snead, originally from Alabama, completed his undergraduate degree at Birmingham-Southern College in Birmingham, AL. He graduated from the University of Alabama School of Medicine, where he received his medical degree. He obtained his internship, residency and fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Snead is Board Certified in Ophthalmology and completed a fellowship in Eye Micro-Surgery in Melbourne, Australia. He is also a fellow of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Snead is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the International Society of Refractive Surgeons, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American College of Eye Surgeons. He is also a member of the Florida Medical Association, Lee County Medical Society, and the Collier County Medical Society. Dr. Snead is one of the most accomplished surgeons in his field. He is consistently recognized within his profession for his exceptional surgical skills and excellent patient outcomes. He provides his patients with the latest techniques, while performing cataract surgery, including bladeless cataract surgery. With his advanced training as an oculoplastic surgeon, he performs both functional and cosmetic eyelid surgery, as well as the latest techniques in glaucoma surgery. His commitment to providing exceptional quality surgery to his patients is reflected by the numerous referrals he receives from fellow eye care professionals and previous patients. In addition to maintaining clinics in Lee and Collier counties, and his surgical schedule, Dr. Snead regularly gives his time and surgical talents to help those in need through organizations such as the Lions Club and EyeCare America. He also lectures within the community, performs free public eye screenings and provides treatment options to those in need. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing the piano and studying the French language.
