John M. Hellrung, M.D., FAAP, is originally from Toledo, Ohio. He received his undergraduate degree in Zoology from the University of Florida and his medical degree from the University of South Florida. He completed his pediatric internship at the University of South Florida and his pediatric residency training at the University of Florida. Dr. Hellrung practices general pediatrics with special interests in sports medicine and pediatric cardiology. Dr. Hellrung is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and also served in the U.S. Army in the Medical Service Corps. Dr. Hellrung and his wife DeeJay have two grown children, Nick and Alyssa. In his time away from the office, Dr. Hellrung enjoys golf, gardening and coaching boys high school basketball for Gainesville High School. His GHS teams have won three state championships in boys basketball.
