Brief Intro

Dr. Baker served as Chief of Ophthalmology at Children%u2019s Hospital of Michigan from 1985 to 2004. He then served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Children%u2019s Hospital of Michigan from 2004 to 2010. Since 2011 he has been a member of the Children%u2019s Hospital of Michigan Foundation Board of Trustees, serving as Board Chairman in 2011. He is Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at Wayne State University School of Medicine. Dr. Baker has spoken all over North America, in many foreign countries and has delivered several named lectures. Dr. Baker%u2019s clinical and research interests encompass pediatric cataracts, strabismus and retinopathy of prematurity and include participation in National Institute of Health/ National Eye Institute sponsored research trials. He has authored numerous publications and textbook chapters. Dr. Baker has been named in The Best Doctors in America, the Best Doctors in the Midwest and Top Docs in Hour Detroit and the Michigan Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons. He is currently Treasurer of the Children%u2019s Eye Foundation, Past-president of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, Association for Research in Strabismus, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, European Strabismological Association, International Strabismus Association, Michigan Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, American Medical Association, Michigan State Medical Society and Wayne County Medical Society.
