Dr. John D. Goosey is affectionately known as the "Specialist's Specialist". After graduating from high school in Los Angeles, the young John Goosey attended the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC. He earned his Medical Doctorate from the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston South Carolina. After receiving his MD, he fellowshipped at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland; extensively studying cataract formation and medical treatment for the eyes. Dr. Goosey also went on to complete a 3-year residency at the University of Texas, Department of Ophthalmology in Houston and then completed an additional fellowship at Louisiana State University Eye Center. There, he received sub-specialty training in corneal and external eye disease. In addition to his extensive studies, Dr. Goosey has taught as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center, Department of Ophthalmology, and as an Adjunct Professor at the College of Optometry, University of Houston. In the early 90's, he began studying the use of lasers for the correction of nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), and astigmatism. Dr. Goosey is well experienced with many of today's innovative laser and surgical techniques. These days, he is known as the premier LASIK surgeon in Houston, having performed tens of thousands of operations including LASIK, cataract surgery, and corneal transplants- to name a few. He uses the very latest and most advanced laser technologies to perform various surgeries, including the Allegretto Wave Laser, with its Perfect Plus technology. Dr. Goosey is nationally board certified in ophthalmology and is an internationally known and respected leader in corneal and refractive eye surgery.
