Dr. Barton started his practice in 1963. That practice developed into Coastal Orthopaedics which presently has 14 doctors, most with sub-specialty fellowship training and practices out of three local offices. Coastal has digital x-ray, uses an electronic medical record and has fifty employees. Dr. Barton graduated from Dartmouth College and did his Internship and Orthopaedic training at The Hospital For Joint Diseases in New York City. He is board certified and a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Over the course of his career he has been Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery at Norwalk Hospital, Assistant Chairman of the Department of Surgery and has served on the Board of Trustees. Dr. Barton has been recognized for his significant contribution in introducing total hip replacement and knee arthroscopy to the hospital.
