The question, \"why would someone ever go into this field?\" comes up quite a bit in my office. The answer comes so easily for me. I get to practice the most exciting medicine and surgical procedures that I was exposed to in training. I could not imagine doing any other job. From treating patients with painful hemorrhoids in the office to developing long-term relationships with cancer patients, being a colorectal surgeon is a true privilege. Minimally invasive surgical techniques for problems that used to require big incisions and lengthy hospital stays are my focus. However, I am happy to offer the full spectrum of colorectal care, including screening colonoscopy, in-office minor surgical procedures, such as hemorrhoid banding, as well as major abdominal operations. One of the most rewarding parts of my practice has become helping patients with bowel control failure (fecal incontinence). Most often, with newer techniques, patients are avoiding painful anorectal procedures altogether. While treating female patients is one of my particular areas of specialization, I welcome men equally into my practice.
I could not be prouder to be a part of CSGA. Frequently, my patients are able to have an office evaluation, diagnostic workup and surgery planned all within a couple of weeks of initial consultation. This is due to CSGA's long term commitment to providing the highest quality patient care and developing steadfast relationships with the medical community. It is truly an exciting time to be a Colon & Rectal Surgeon here in Kentucky.
