Dr. Freeman is Professor, Chair and Course Director of Endocrinology in the Division of Endocrinology of the Department of Internal Medicine. He joined the faculty of PCOM in 1983 as an Assistant Professor. Dr. Freeman has served on the Board of Directors of the American Diabetes Association's Pennsylvania affiliate since 1992 and its Philadelphia affiliate since 1985. For thirteen years he has been Chair of the Subcommittee on Metabolic Diseases of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association. His special projects include a role as professional representative to the Lipid Screening Implementation Program and participation in the International Work-Group In the Clinical Management of Type II Diabetes Mellitus. In 1985 the American Diabetes Association honored Dr. Freeman with a Service Citation.
Dr. Freeman received his D.O. in 1978 from the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, Iowa. From 1981 to 1983 he completed a fellowship in endocrinology and metabolism at the University of Medicine and Dentistry in Newark, N.J.
