San Diego Dentist - James D. Dickinson, D.D.S. Board Certified Specialist in Implants, Esthetics & Reconstructive Dentistry Dr. Dickinson's passion and love of dentistry began as a dental laboratory technician in the United States Navy from 1973-1977. The artistic challenge and pleasure in helping patients improve their dental health prompted Dr. Dickinson to return to school to complete his undergraduate and dental education. Dr. Dickinson is a 1984 graduate of Georgetown University School of Dentistry.  From 1984 to 1985 he was a General Practice Resident at Camp Pendleton Naval Hospital where he received the Captain George H. Orthmeyer award for academic achievement.  From 1988 to 1989 he underwent training in the Advanced Clinical Program in Prosthodontics at Naval Dental Center, San Diego.  He earned his graduate Certificate in Prosthodontics from Emory University School of Postgraduate Dentistry from 1990-1992 and a Certificate in Maxillofacial Prosthetics from Naval Postgraduate Dental School from 1992-1993. He was extensively involved in graduate dental education at National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Maryland and at Naval Medical Center, San Diego.  He retired from Naval Medical Center, San Diego in 2000 with the rank of Commander. Dr. Dickinson fulfilled requirements for Board Certification in the specialty of Prosthodontics in 1997 prior to entering private practice.
