Dr. James Gilbert, MD, LCDR USN is a board-certified Orthopedics surgeon, who specializes in Sports Medicine. He is also proud to serve in the Medical Officer Corp Reserves for the United States Navy as a Lieutenant Commander, providing orthopedic care to our nation’s soldiers, veterans and their dependents. Dr. Gilbert has been in practice for 25 years and has served as a head team physician for many professional sports teams including US Soccer, DC United, The Washington Spirit and the Professional Bull Riders (PBR). He is passionate about taking care of all athletes, professional and recreational, and his goal is to keep all patients active and living a healthy lifestyle. Dr. Gilbert treats all orthopedic conditions and specializes in arthroscopy and sports related surgeries such as ACL reconstruction, rotator cuff repair, shoulder stabilization, ankle stabilization, cartilage, and meniscal repair. He is a thought leader in the field of Orthobiologics and Regenerative Medicine, and has extensive experience with sports therapy and performance training. His approach to injury is non-operative but Dr. Gilbert has the skills and tools to move forward with the surgical approach if necessary.
