Brief Intro

     Dr. James Woodyard is a native of Smithland, Kentucky.  He received his bachelor degree from Murray State University in 1994 in Biology and Chemistry and worked as a computer analyst for 1 year prior to dental school.  He then achieved his Doctorate of Dental Medicine in 1999 from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry.  In 2002, he continued his education with a residency in Periodontics at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry where he graduated with a Masters in Oral Biology and a Certificate in Periodontics.       Following graduation, he became an associate at the practice Wyman, Passero, Feeney and Woodyard in the Washington DC area.  In 2004, the opportunity to return to the tri-state area presented itself and both Dr. Woodyard and his wife, Laura, were anxious to return.  In April 2004, Dr. Woodyard purchased the periodontal practice of Dr. Fred Robbins and opened Woodyard Periodontlcs, PC.        In November 2005,  Dr. Woodyard achieved Diplomate Status with the American Board of Periodontology.  A Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology (ABP) is a periodontist who has made significant achievements beyond the mandatory educational requirements of the specialty.  He is the only ABP Board Certified Periodontist in the tri-state area and one of only a handful in the state of Indiana.       Dr. Woodyard is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, American Dental Association, Academy of Osseointegration, the Indiana Dental Association and the First District Dental Society.  He is the director and a founding member of the Select Study Club, an affiliate of the Seattle Study Club system.  He is compassionate about his patients and is in constant pursuit to improve himself.   Dr. Woodyard routinely presents lectures on dental implants, cosmetic periodontal plastic surgery, and on periodontal treatment.  He actively pursues continued education receiving over 3 times of the required amount each year.         Dr. Woodyard has been married to his wife, Laura, an intensive care nurse, since November 2003.  They were joined in December 2005 by their first child, Luke Gabriel Woodyard.  In November of 2008, they had their second child, Zach.  As you can see by his pictures, Luke keeps both of them very busy and Zach will soon follow!  Dr. Woodyard and his wife both enjoy family and travel.  Dr. Woodyard enjoys the outdoors and working with computers.
