Dr. Zakhour received his Bachelor's degree from the American University of Beirut, Lebanon in 1972 and his Doctorate in medicine in 1976 from the American University of Beirut Medical School where he was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr. Zakhour also completed his internship in 1976 and performed residencies at Mercy Catholic Medical Center in Darby, PA and Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Zakhour completed his fellowship in glaucoma surgery at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, PA and received board certification from the American Board of Ophthalmology in 1981.
Dr. Zakhour has been appointed to the medical staff at McLeod Regional Medical Center and as Clinical Assistant Professor in Ophthalmology at the Medical University of South Carolina. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, South Carolina Society of Ophthalmology, South Carolina Medical Association, and the Florence County Medical Society. Dr. Zakhour has published numerous articles and academic papers on treatment and management of glaucoma patients and currently serves as managing partner of Stokes Regional Eye Centers.
