Brief Intro

Dr. Porter, a native of Philadelphia, received his M.D. degree from Thomas Jefferson University. He completed a five year internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at Northwestern University, Chicago and one year of pediatric spinal training at Children’s Hospital, Chicago. Dr. Porter also obtained adult surgical spine training at the Midwest Regional Spinal Cord Injury Unit. A subsequent Wiltse spinal fellowship was completed at Long Beach Memorial Hospital in California. After teaching orthopedics for 10 years at the Eastern VA Medical School, Dr. Porter returned to Pennsylvania. Dr. Porter is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons and is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He is also a member of the North American Spine Society and the American Medical Association. Dr. Porter’s special interests include adult scoliosis, spinal deformities and reconstruction of the spine.
