Dr. Chaudhry received his undergraduate degree from Weber State University in Ogden, Utah and MD, PhD from the University of Utah School of Medicine in Salt Lake City. His Graduate Research work at the University of Utah was sponsored by a prestigious National Institute of Health Pre-Doctoral Fellowship from Bethesda, MD under the supervision of Professor Dr. Ralph Karler which resulted in several publications. Dr. Chaudhry completed a one year of Internship in Internal Medicine at Yale University School of Medicine affiliated Yale-New Haven Hospital, Waterbury Hospital, Saint Mary%u2019s Hospital and West Haven Veteran%u2019s Hospital in Connecticut. He completed an Ophthalmology residency at the prestigious Yale Eye Center of the Yale University School of Medicine Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, New Haven, CT. On his mother%u2019s advice, Dr. Chaudhry came to Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) in Houston to pursue a two year Fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery under the mentorship of Professor Dr. Milton Boniuk, a World-class Oculoplastic Surgeon. Because of BCM%u2019s location at the heart of Texas Medical Center, Dr. Chaudhry broadened his knowledge in other areas of surgery such as Plastic Surgery, ENT and Neurosurgery, mostly because of the intertwined nature of his specialized field of Oculoplastic subspecialty. Dr. Chaudhry also had privileges%u2019 to work and exchange ideas with several plastic surgeons over the years, among them Dr. Aldo Delvascovo from Rome. Dr. Chaudhry is Board Certified Ophthalmologist and is a fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and the American College of Surgeons.
In addition to his enormous skills in patient care, Dr. Chaudhry has extensive research, teaching and leadership experience in the field of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Over the past 14 years, Dr. Chaudhry has helped in training over 50 Residents in Ophthalmology and 10 Fellows in Oculoplastic Surgery. Because of his contribution to the advancement of knowledge in the field of Ophthalmology, American Academy of Ophthalmology honored him with the prestigious %u201CAchievement Award%u201D in 2008. He has served on the Editorial Board of the %u201CEyeNet,%u201D American Academy of Ophthalmology%u2019s monthly journal and is currently serving on the Editorial Board of several international ophthalmology journals and regularly reviews articles submitted for the American Journal of Ophthalmology, Archives of Ophthalmology, British Journal of Ophthalmology, European Journal of Ophthalmology, Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Open Journal of Ophthalmology and International Journal of Ophthalmology. He has authored and co-authored over 200 journal articles, abstracts and book chapters in the field of Ophthalmology.
