Brief Intro

Dr. Borger has lived in Marietta, Ga with his wife and three children since 1987. Raised in Houston, Dr. Borger met his wife, Lori in New Orleans while attending Tulane University. There he received a bachelor of science and engineering in biomedical engineering. After college he worked as a research biomedical engineer at Baylor College of Medicine until attending medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, TX. Dr. Borger graduated medical school in 1983 with high honors and was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He then moved to Roanoke, Virginia for his internship training with an active involvement in advance cardiac life support as an integral part of the %u201Ccode blue%u201D team at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. After completion of his internship, Dr. Borger trained in advanced ocular medical and surgical care at the Medical College of Georgia.. During his residency he served as the Chief Resident in the department of Ophthalmology. Dr. Borger is Cobb County%u2019s leading eye surgeon, performing more than 700 ocular surgical procedures yearly. He has served as Chairman of the Dept. of Ophthalmology at Wellstar/Kennestone Hospital and is on active staff at Piedmont Better Vision Laser Center, Piedmont Eye Ambulatory Surgical Center and the Marietta Surgical Center. Dr. Borger works as a consultant for other Ophthalmologists and Optometrists in Cobb and surrounding counties. He has advanced the field of cataract surgery by performing no stitch, no patch and no injection cataract procedure with advanced optic and multifocal intraocular lens. He was the first Ophthalmologist in his county to be VISX certified for the laser treatment of myopia (near sighted), hyperopia (far sighted), and astigmatism with both PRK and LASIK procedures. He is also certified on the Custom Alcon Ladarwave platform, Moria and Hansatome Keratomes and for Conductive Keratoplasty. He was the first in his county to be certified in advanced Intralase laser refractive surgery. Dr. Borger continues to set the standard of advanced cataract and refractive vision correction by utilizing the newest techniques and the best surgical technology available.
