Dr. Fleming has been with Sierra Neurosurgery Group since 1991 and is certified through the American Board of Neurological Surgeons. She is one of just a handful of female neurosurgeons in the West and specializes in the treatment of tumors that impact the brain, particularly pituitary tumors. She is one of just four neurosurgeons in Northern Nevada trained to treat brain tumors with the non-invasive Cyberknife radiosurgery system. She is also one of the only surgeons in the region experienced with the use of vagal nerve stimulation to treat patients with seizures. Other areas of keen interest and expertise include deep brain stimulation and trigeminal neuralgia.
Dr. Fleming obtained her medical degree with honors in 1985 from the University of North Carolina and completed her doctoral degree in genetics from the University of Pennsylvania, through which she was an NIH Predoctoral Fellow. Completing her neurosurgical residency training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; she is currently a clinical instructor at the University of Nevada, Reno Department of Surgery.
