Dr. Fleishman was born in Anderson, South Carolina. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Washington and Lee University and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He received his Medical Degree with honors (Alpha Omega Alpha and Cum Laude) from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia in 1974. He completed his General Surgery training at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky. After completing his surgical training in 1979, Dr. Fleishman and his wife, Virginia, moved to Eden, North Carolina. He was the founding partner of Piedmont Surgical Specialists. At Morehead Memorial Hospital in Eden, North Carolina he has been President of the Medical Staff, and Chairman of the Department of Surgery. He was instrumental in developing the Smith-McMichael Cancer Center which is certified by the Commission on Cancer. He has been the only chairman of the Cancer Committee and the hospital’s only Cancer Liaison Physician. During the 31 years Dr. Fleishman resided in Eden he was very active in civic affairs including the Eden Chamber of Commerce, Carlisle School Board, the United Way Board, and several Bank Boards. In the summer of 2010 Dr. Fleishman and his wife Virginia, his wife of 37 years, decided to move to Charlotte, North Carolina to be closer to their three children and grandchildren. They feel very fortunate that Dr. Fleishman was able to join the prestigious Surgical Specialists of Charlotte. Dr. Fleishman is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He enjoys practicing general, laparoscopic, and cancer surgery. He also performs endoscopy / colonoscopy procedures and has experience in evaluating and treating various surgical diseases of the breast, biliary tract (gallbladder), stomach, and colon. He also has extensive experience in treating cancers of the breast, colon and skin. He welcomes the opportunity and privilege to see new patients at our University and Randolph Road offices. He practices within the CMC & Presbyterian Health Care System.
