Brief Intro

Hassan Majeed, MD, is both a psychiatrist and interventional pain management physician. He completed his adult psychiatry residency at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA, followed by training in child and adolescent psychiatry at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, NY. While practicing psychiatry and addiction medicine in Connecticut, he observed that many of his patients suffered from chronic pain. This led him to an interventional pain fellowship at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD.Dr. Majeed is board certified in adult, child, and adolescent psychiatry, addiction medicine, and pain medicine. Dr. Majeed believes that a person’s emotional, physical, and social well-being are interrelated. He combines the best application of medications, psychological approaches—including cognitive behavioral therapy and meditation—and physical interventions (injections and minimally invasive surgeries) that will enable his patients to achieve long-term health and well-being. His core values are to treat patients with compassion and integrity and with their best interests in mind. He has a passion for advocacy for the most vulnerable and racially, ethnically, and sexually diverse populations.Dr. Majeed has published over fifty peer-reviewed articles in psychiatry, pain management and medical education in prominent journals, including The New England Journal of Medicine. He has co-authored book chapters in leading textbooks in psychiatry and pain medicine. Dr. Majeed is a marathon runner; he has completed several marathons including the New York, Philadelphia, and Washington DC Marine Corps marathons. He is also an avid traveler and enjoys visiting art galleries and museums and attending live theater. He is excited to move to the Washington D.C. area and looks forward to enjoying what the area has to offer.
