Dr. Bjerke and his wife, Nancy, have two children (now young adults). In his free time, Dr. Bjerke enjoys cooking (garlic and grilling), personal fitness, computer programming, and golf. He has retired from officiating high school swimming and diving, but continues to follow and support regional aquatics.
