Dr. Panagiotides has been in practice since 1995. He has experience in the full spectrum of adult cardiac and pulmonary surgical procedures and he is board certified in General Surgery and Cardiothoracic Surgery. In 1996 he joined the staff of St. Vincent's Medical Center, one of the preeminent heart surgery centers in Los Angeles. Subsequently he became Associate Professor at the University of Southern California. In 2002 he joined the practice of Dr. Daniel Bethencourt at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center and Lakewood Regional Medical Center. Dr. Panagiotides received his Bachelor's of Science Degree Magna Cum Laude from the University of San Francisco and his Medical Degree from Georgetown University. He completed his general surgery training at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington D.C., where he gained much experience in trauma and critical care surgery at the renowned Medstar Center. He completed his residency in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Florida Shand's Hospital where he increased his knowledge and expertise in adult cardiac and pulmonary surgery, as well as cardiac and pulmonary transplantation. Dr. Panagiotides is familiar with all aspects of adult cardiac surgery, including coronary artery bypass surgery, open heart valvular surgery (repair and replacement) and thoracic aorta surgery. He also has experience and interest in the newer techniques of off-pump, beating heart surgery, transmyocardial revascularization and atrial fibrillation surgery. In addition, he is proficient in pulmonary and general thoracic surgery dealing with lung cancer and in using the latest thoracoscopic techniques.
