Gaurav Chandra, MD is a board certified, fellowship-trained ophthalmologist specializing in the medical management of ocular inflammatory and retinal disease, including the newest advances in injection and laser therapy for diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration, and the safe and efficacious use of immunomodulators.
Dr. Chandra earned his undergraduate degree from Duke University. After coordinating clinical trials for promising cancer treatments at Mount Sinai Hospital, Dr. Chandra completed his medical degree from Stony Brook University and his ophthalmology residency at Mount Sinai, where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Chandra was then awarded and completed a fellowship in uveitis and ocular immunology at the prestigious New York Eye and Ear Infirmary.
Dr. Chandra is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and his research interests are reflected in his publications of peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, and presentations at national conferences. He teaches and supervises resident physicians and fellows in the uveitis clinic of New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. Outside of work, he enjoys international travel, cooking, and tennis.
