Dr. Abi-Samra earned his medical degree from the American University of Beirut Medical School where he also completed his internship and residency. He completed a cardiology fellowship at Metropolitan General Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio followed by a research fellowship in hypertension and a clinical fellowship in cardiac pacing and electrophysiology at the Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Abi-Samra has been on staff at Ochsner since 1986 where he directs the electrophysiology and pacing services. He is board certified in cardiovascular disease and specializes in syncope implantable defibrillators, radiofrequency ablation, permanent pacemaker implantation, sudden death atrial fibrillation/flutter, and ventricular arrhythmia.
