Dr. Rasp joined Lutheran Medical Group in 1996, bringing the specialty of pulmonary and critical care medicine to the group. He was the first noncardiologist to join and began the group's transformation to a multispecialty practice. , he served as LMG's first medical director, a role he filled for 12 years. In January 2010, after 13 years as an LMG pulmonologist, Dr. Rasp switched gears and became a full-time hospitalist at Dupont Hospital, a position he held for more than two years. Today, he serves as a part-time physician in The Orthopedic Hospital?s PACE Clinic and as a backup hospitalist at both Dupont and Lutheran hospitals. Dr. Rasp earned a medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine after completing his undergraduate studies at Purdue University. He completed an internal medicine and pulmonary/critical care fellowship at the University of Minnesota, where he served as a faculty member at the university's School of Medicine before moving to Fort Wayne. Dr. Rasp serves as a clinical professor of medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine/Fort Wayne. Dr. Rasp, who was the first physician to become board certified in critical care medicine in Fort Wayne, is a past chief of staff and advisory-board member of Lutheran Hospital. He also served as president of Triad Hospitals' National Physician Leadership Group and the Physician Advisory Group of Community Health Systems. He is a member of the board of directors of Northern Indiana Physicians Health Plan and Three Rivers Medical Associates. Also board certified in internal medicine and pulmonary disease, Dr. Rasp is a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians, a member of the American College of Physician Executives and a lifetime member of the American Thoracic Society.
