Firas Saker, M.D., holds multiple appointments with Cleveland Clinic Childrens Hospital. He is the associate Chair for the Department of Neonatology at Cleveland Clinic Foundation, he also is the medical director of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Hillcrest Hospital. , Dr. Saker is a Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Cleveland Clinic Learner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Saker is double board certified in both pediatrics and neonatal/perinatal medicine. He earned his medical degree from Damascus University School of Medicine in Damascus, Syria. His post-graduate training includes a pediatric residency at Texas Tech University School of Medicine in El Paso, Texas, and a neonatal/perinatal fellowship at Case Western Reserve University and Rainbow Babies & Childrens Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. his clinical practice, Dr. Saker is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, Section of Perinatal Medicine. He also serves on several committees for Cleveland Clinic Health Care System, including the Reproductive Ethics Subcommittee, NICU Design Committee, and Infection Disease Control Committee at Hillcrest Medical Center; as well as the Blood Conservation Committee at Main Campus, among others. Dr. Saker has received a number of awards and recognitions. Most recently he was selected by his colleagues to be included in the Best Doctors list in America for the year 2011-2012. He also received a Lifetime Service Award from the Syrian American Medical Society. An established clinical researcher, Dr. Saker has secured a number of grants for his work and has published multiple research articles in peer-reviewed journals, as well as having contributed abstracts and presentations at a number of professional association meetings.
