I received my bachelor's degree in biochemistry and biophysics from the University of Houston -University Park in 1984. I spent four years at MD Anderson Cancer Center performing cancer research and completed my medical degree from Texas A&M College of Medicine in 1992. My internship and residency in internal medicine was followed by a fellowship in hematology/oncology at the University of Arizona under the direction of renowned hematologist/oncologist Dr. Sidney Salmon. I joined Southern California Kaiser Permanente Medical Group in 1998 and currently serve as the chief of the Hematology/Onclogy Department. I am involved in several clinical research projects.
