Dr. Eric Kortz is a native of Colorado. Following graduation from Thomas Jefferson High School, he attended the University of Vermont, graduating Magna Cum Laude. In 1982, he graduated from the University of Colorado Medical School with honors in surgery. He received his general surgery training at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. During his residency, he spent three years in government service as a research fellow at the National Institute of Health. Upon completion of his general surgery training, Dr. Kortz extended his postgraduate training with a two-year fellowship in liver surgery and transplantation at University of Chicago. He returned to Colorado in 1992. Dr. Kortz is certified by the American Board of Surgery. His professional interests include all areas of general surgery with specific interest and expertise in complex surgical problems of the liver and pancreas, as well as kidney and liver transplantation. He performs advanced laparoscopic surgery including liver resection and treatment of metastatic liver disease. Dr. Eric Kortz has been selected as 5280 Magazine’s Top Doctors on nine separate occasions.
His personal interests include hiking, camping, skiing, and spending time with his wife and two adult sons.
