Brief Intro

Douglas A. Leach, MD, FACOG, is a double board-certified surgeon specializing in urogynecology and reconstructive pelvic surgery. Dr. Leach has a particular interest in correcting obstetric fistulae — a debilitating condition that affects millions of women in underserved countries. He utilizes shared decision-making in his practice, reviewing with each patient a variety of treatment options and approaches. Armed with this information, each patient can choose what works best for her based on her personal desires and objectives. Dr. Leach earned his medical degree and bachelor’s degree at the University of Kentucky. He completed an OB/GYN residency at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, and his fellowship in urogynecology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. Dr. Leach is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (FACOG). He’s also a member of the American Urogynecologic Society (AUGS), the International Urogynecology Association (IUGA), an expert reviewer for Obstetrics & Gynecology, also known as the Green Journal, and the International Urogynecology Journal (IUJ). He's the recipient of multiple research grants for urogynecology studies and gynecologic surgery. He’s a two-time first-prize winner for the best scientific paper at the annual clinical meeting of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Dr. Leach has received multiple recognitions from the United States Air Force, including being awarded as the number one OB/GYN provider at Elmendorf Air Force Base. Outside of work, Dr. Leach most enjoys spending time with his family outdoors: hiking, fishing and floating down rivers. Dr. Leach highly values the patient-physician relationship and strives to get to know each patient individually. Understanding an individual's interests, life and health care philosophy is critical to learning how to best serve and meet their needs.
