Denise M. Smith, D.O., recently returned to St. Joseph Medical Group as a primary care physician after a one-year hiatus from the group. A native of Fort Wayne, Dr. Smith entered the medical field as a radiological technologist in 1978 and worked as a radiographer for several years before entering medical school. She graduated from the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Mo., in 1993. Since completing a residency in family practice medicine at the Fort Wayne Medical Education program in 1996, she has worked in numerous capacities as a primary care and emergency medicine physician. Dr. Smith specializes in end-of-life issues for primary care patients. Dr. Smith is a member of the American Medical Association, the Indiana Association of Family Physicians, the Indiana State Medical Association and the American Academy of Family Physicians.
