Brief Intro

Following completion of ophthalmology training at the University of Michigan, Dr. Mitchell and his family moved to Cortland, New York where he founded Cortland Eye Center. While in Cortland, Dr. Mitchell treated a wide variety of eye disease and maintained a busy surgical practice. He also was actively involved in Cortland Regional Medical Centers medical staff and Board of Trustees, serving on numerous committees and assuming leadership roles, including terms as Chairman of the Department of Surgery, President of the Medical Staff, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees. In 2006, after 25 years of practice in Cortland, Dr. Mitchell sold Cortland Eye Center and traveled North America for 23 months with his wife Lynn, living full time in their motor-home. They then settled in South Florida to be closer to 2 of their 3 children, who live in the area, and to allow Dr. Mitchell to re-enter the practice of ophthalmology.
